About Me
Dr. Thillainathan is a doctor, entrepreneur, and patient advocate. This internal medicine specialist is the owner of MDCARENOW LLC, an Urgent Care that treats the root of the illness rather than its symptoms. Thillainathan has spent much of his life trying to extend the lifespan of those he treats by offering access to quality medical care. More than that, though, he’s focused on how to best improve the quality of his patients’ everyday lives. With several specialties, including internal and emergency medicine, as well as addiction training, he’s helped his patients get a handle on their health.
Current Role and Duties
Ananthakumar Thillainathan is currently an internist at MDCARENOW LLC. At his company, he works with a team of professionals to treat patients for a wide variety of illnesses. Whether it’s an infant with a colic case, a senior who’s taken a stumble, or an exhausted professional suffering from extreme stress, the staff is there to jump straight into the issue.
Thillainathan has also trained his team to work with patients struggling with addiction, an unfortunately frequent scenario in urgent care centers and emergency rooms today. The team works under Thillainathan’s direction to treat every person based on their circumstances rather than reaching for a one-size solution. This has led his business to receive numerous reviews about how people feel truly heard when they detail what’s happening to them.
Thillainathan makes full use of his mastery of languages to better connect with his patients. Able to speak Russian, Tamil, and Sinhalese, in addition to English, he works hard to make people feel more at ease with what’s happening and why. Dr. Thillainathan understands that it’s not always easy to seek medical care, particularly if a person has had poor experiences with providers. When people walk in, they’re treated with respect from the moment they come through the doors.
Career History
Since 2012, Dr. Thillainathan has built an internal medicine practice from scratch. He’s dedicated his life to helping patients receive a comprehensive diagnosis and treatment for their disorders. He also was in the emergency department for four years of his career. Working in these intense situations, he learned how to manage his time and energy. When deciding how and where to spend his limited resources, he became an expert at prioritizing his jam-packed to-do list, so he wouldn’t have to compromise his patient’s health.
Dr. Thillainathan may be a doctor, but he also had his eyes set on the entrepreneurial path. Deciding to open his own operation gave him an opportunity to carve out his own space in the industry. In a world where many doctors often look for the simplest solution simply so they can move on, Ananthakumar Thillainathan wanted to assist patients by getting to the core of the problem. Ultimately, he didn’t want them to spend a lifetime managing a condition that could be eliminated with better care.
Academic History
Dr. Thillainathan attended medical school at Spartan Health Sciences University School of Medicine in the Caribbean, where he earned his Doctor of Medicine. He also was at Hackensack University Medical Center in New Jersey, where he completed his Residency in Internal Medicine. With more than 35 years of experience in medical education, Spartan is known for its small class sizes and one-to-one professor-student assistance.
More than professional development, though, Spartan is known for providing students with a peaceful and secure learning environment. In a competitive field like medicine, this benefit helps doctors look past the personal drive to the patients at the heart of the equation. At Hackensack, the doctor learned about some of the biggest advancements in his sector. Known for their forward-thinking approach to medicine, the faculty and students on campus learn to use some of the most innovative equipment and techniques available in the medical world. His academic background has given him all the tools he needed to establish a business that catered to the needs of patients today.
Philanthropy/Charitable Involvement
Dr. Thillainathan has chosen to support Doctors Without Borders as his philanthropic cause. His contribution is put toward helping doctors provide the best possible medical care all over the world. At this nonprofit, the primary goal is not to harm. To the staff and volunteers, this means treating everyone with dignity and giving them the right to make their own choices about their healthcare. Above all, doctors enforce the need for consent, something that is not always freedom enjoyed by people in different parts of the world. The group also believes that they are bound to speak up on behalf of their patients, which means calling attention to everything from crises to wrongdoing wherever they travel.
Accomplishments/Achievements
Dr. Thillainathan has accomplished a variety of professional milestones in his career:
- Internal medicine specialty: With a focus on treating the whole patient, an internist must know the person they work with. This specialty demands a doctor that will learn the true cause of the person’s ailments.
- Addiction medicine specialty: Addiction is a sometimes deadly fight that threatens more than just a person’s health. From a patient’s livelihood to their freedom, specializing in addiction medicine has given Ananthakumar Thillainathan the training to treat one of the most destructive forces on the planet.
- Emergency medicine specialty: Internal and emergency medicine may be very different, but Dr. Thillainathan believed there was value in learning the two extremes. This additional specialty has helped him achieve balance with his patients, which has led to better outcomes.
- Minimal invasive interventional pain care: This methodology focuses on the best ways to block a person’s pain so they can get on with their day-to-day activities. From injections to nerve blocking, the goal is to find solutions that are as minimally invasive as possible before resorting to more drastic measures.
